Tequila is a distilled spirit made from the Weber Blue Agave plant. Mexican law limits tequila production to a specific region, including all of Jalisco and select areas of Guanajuato, Michoacán, and Nayarit, with a small exception in Tamaulipas. Tequila must be bottled between 35% and 55% ABV, and in the U.S., it must contain at least 40% ABV.
The heart of the Blue Weber Agave, or piña, is cooked, fermented, distilled, and aged to create tequila. Agave from the highlands of Jalisco produces sweeter, fruitier tequila, while lowland agave gives a more earthy flavor. Barrel aging determines color and the intensity of oak or wood notes in the spirit.
Tequila Varieties
Plata/Blanco
Clear tequila in its purest form, highlighting the natural flavors of the agave. Best enjoyed neat to fully appreciate its character.
Reposado
Aged a few months in oak barrels, developing subtle notes of citrus, herbs, vanilla, and occasional spice or fruit. Offers a balanced, smooth flavor for sipping.
Añejo
Aged 1–3 years, extracting rich flavors of caramel and sweet fruits. Smooth, buttery, and perfect for sipping or mixing in cocktails like Ranch Water.
Extra Añejo
Aged a minimum of three years. The extended barrel time deepens the color and intensifies the flavor profile, producing a luxurious sipping experience.
Cristalino
Aged tequila that is filtered to remove color, creating a smoother, lighter spirit while softening some of the bold flavors from aging.
Mezcal
A more unrestrained agave spirit made from various Maguey species. It ranges from smoky and earthy to sweet and savory, reflecting the regional terroir.
Sotol
Distilled from the Dasylirion Texanum (Desert Spoon) plant found in Northern Mexico and Southwest Texas. Sotol offers earthy, smoky notes and captures the unique flavors of the desert.
